A few weeks back , Lori and I went on a long weekend
trip to Maine , we stayed in Bar Harbor in a nice
bed and breakfast and spent a few days in Acadia National
Park. Beautiful , man - beautiful
The park is basically a driving park , driving winding
scenic roads throughtout the park (27 mile loop trail
+ some further less popular but just as beautiful
areas )
Every other turn is a beautiful bluff overlooking
mountains , or ocean , or the fjord (steep walled
inlet of a sea created by glacial gouging.) or lakes
, or just ridiculous views of ridiculous distances
- There are a number of Site Attraction stops , such
as Cadilac mountain where you drive to the top of
one of the tallest peaks in the northeast , Thunder
hole where the ocean meets the rocky surf , at one
point we were on a trail that climbed a mountain where
our view was of a lake beneath us , the fjord to the
left of us(i didn`t know the us had fjords , i thought
that was icelands claim to fame ), over other mountains
, Islands and the ocean beyond in a 280 degree radius
, unfreakin believable -http://www.acadia.national-park.com/
Did a lot of hiking, and checking out some natural
beauty of the world.
bar harbor is a tourist town with all the specialty
shops hawking all sorts of crap and some pretty good
restaurants- not much in the way of bars but we had
a couple of drinks in a few spots
The bed and breakfast was cool , nice place , nice
room - good breakfast - we stayed at the primrose
inn. http://www.primroseinn.com/
