MAY
17TH 2003 AT EISENHOWER PARK - ALL DAY BABY !!!!!
Well I have to say the Gathering went
well - I have some pics up in the gallery
to check out. I had an excellent time and I hope everyone
that came did as well. We were missing some good friends
that I was hoping were going to be there. (they know
who they are) but all in all it was a good turnout
and a good time.
Visit the message
boards to drop any lines about the get - together.
Anyone with some real interesting things to say or
share can email
me. My Dad and Family had a good time - Here is
what the old baby boomer said about it.
Hi Kev,
Had a great day yesterday. I'm glad the weather cooperated.
I asked for a favor from above. He grants me things
like good weather but has a problem with my lotto
requests. Well I was glad for the sunshine since my
apartment here in Merrick has ceilings that are a
bit too low for volleyball, ( but it does have a stereo
and music- WAAAAAHH).
Two things threw me about your crew:
1) How could a head banging group of generation -
X ers get through a long day drinking beer with NO
MUSIC ????
2) Was my Father there ??? All these very hot looking
babes who'd look great perched on the tail of my Harley
kept on referring to someone as Mr. Beary.
It was satisfying to know after meeting them that
your generation X compadres are keeping the 12 step
rooms full, the outpatient clinics busy, social workers
and psychologists employed, and the maternity wards
cranking.
All in all you guys sure did fizzle from what we,
your parents, expected you'd do.......THANK GOD !!!!!!!!!!!
As a group or one on one you all certainly did turn
out surprisingly well, almost normal. As a matter
of fact my generation is still far wilder and getting
more unpredictable with age... ( thanks to the onslaught
of senility ). Take a look around. Who's riding those
Harleys, filling up the biker bars, still pumping
iron in the gym, on the treadmills, "spinning"
or bicycle riding and power walking on the trails
and around the neighborhood, in Physical Therapy with
sports injuries, backpacking, camping out and hiking
up in " the Whites", still cranking out
classics at 60 plus on the air waves, playing guitars
and harmonicas celebrating the origins of rock with
blues, R and B, soul, and garage band stuff ????
Yup, guys like good old Mr. Beary !!!!!!!!
I can say it was a pleasure to realize the world is
safe for my generation to continue rocking on while
you younger guys hold down the fort and take over
the responsibilities of running the nation. We were
never good at it anyway...........we invented "having
issues" back while we were still taking over
college campuses and protesting anything that occurred
before 1967 except free love which was not then and
is not now " Free"...........ask any lawyer
or judge.
So I hope everyone has gotten home safe and is ready
for work Monday morning. I've got to pull out the
Harley and " ROLL ME AWAY" as Bob Seeger
puts it......or should I now say: " Mr. Seeger"??????
Right on !!!!!
God's blessings to all the survivors of Eisenhower
,
Mr. Beary...........formerly just " Danny"
WE
reserved Field 2 - Its called The Pear
Its a great spot near softball field. Open area near
volley ball - Right near the playgrounds for any lil
ones. A lot of people that are going have yet to sign
in but it should be a good turnout and a lot of fun.
People signing in should consider bringing things
like a volley ball , football, whiffle ball , frisbee
etc;
UPDATES - Charlie has lined up catered
food from the old Division Ave Deli. (thats a blast
from the past huh) I`ll be getting a permit this week
to secure a killer spot so the spanish families don`t
run off with our picnic benches (no offense to spanish
people or bill and yaro :-)
I`m going to be staying at the Econo-lodge
in Hicksville. Anyone out of towners needing a room
should email me prior to May 4th so I can reserve
a room for them.
Tell
your friends whats going on , the more the merrier
, I`d love to see a hundred of us showing up and it
could happen with your help. You know what its like
getting everyone coordinated , you gotta keep asking
, making sure everyone we know will be there.
